Wired vs. wireless display: why choose one or the other? The major advantage of a wireless connection is the freedom it gives to move around the room. In this way connecting to the display wirelessly makes the most sense when you are teaching from a lightweight touchscreen device such as a tablet or displaying information from your phone. A secondary advantage of a wireless connection is when you do not have an adapter to connect your device to the wired connection provided in the room -- in this case, HDMI. If you are presenting from a laptop with an HDMI port and you're going to leave it sitting at the front of the room, by all means use the wired connection. If you have an iPad or Surface Pro and want to be able to walk around the room and display what you're doing as you interact with students, the wireless connection is the way to go.
