Bonding With Chemistry — A day camp for young scientists, is organized by WCC every summer to expose all middle school students, especially girls, to chemistry and sciences in the laboratory and in every-day life. In the past, this hands-on camp has included topics such as electrochemistry, art chemistry, chemistry of the earth, chemistry in cooking, polymers, and more! In addition to participating in various chemistry-related activities and experiments, the participants are also taught how to make scientific observations and follow experimental procedures in their designated laboratory notebooks. Led by current graduate students and faculty, the event is all about playing and learning in chemistry to encourage young scientists entering 6th-8th grades to be excited about chemistry!
